The contribution of Yoga
‘In yogic terms we develop space through the practice of asana – a series of carefully sequenced postures, which gradually progress to open the body and unravel the stresses and tensions held deep within our physical body. As we allow ourselves to breathe more deeply (yogic breathing) we feel a sense of relief and release. Inaccessible sensation becomes accessible and we are able to ‘be in our body’ with a greater sense of ease and grace.
The concentration and focus brought about by connecting breath and movement creates a meditative quality within the practice, and it is this slowing down which brings a greater clarity and awareness, over time.
The contribution of Coaching
Coaching will enable you to make connections from the development of space in the yoga, and to become more conscious of what you would like to change, or do more of, (or less of!) in your life and work. Essentially how can you become more yourself, to free up your own unique strengths and abilities.
The practice of mindfulness helps us to be present as the watcher of our mind, noticing how often our attention is in the past or the future rather than on the present, expansive moment. This makes us aware of the space and clarity which is always available to us, and which enables us to be less identified with repetitive meaningless thought, and less emotionally hooked on painful reactions.
This creative fusion of yoga and coaching can be provided as workshops to groups or as individually tailored sessions.
“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom”.
