I would love to live
Like a river flows,
Carried by the surprise
Of its own unfolding
— "Fluent" by John O’Donohue

I am a Coach, Supervisor, Trainer and Consultant, drawing also on my previous therapeutic training to work in an integrated way to enable sustainable change. We might imagine that the river described above is bounded by the banks of counselling and coaching, and that integration flows between them.  People themselves are dynamic, ever unfolding, impacted by the past, seeking different futures.  Our ability to move forward is often impeded by assumptions and patterns of behaviour adopted in the past that no longer serve us.  Our ability to see and own our strengths and make changes in our present can help bring insight and energy to create new internal and external patterns of living.

Coaching

I coach leaders and teams across corporate, public and third sector organisations, and people looking for support develop confidence in their authentic selves to make changes in their life and work.  As well as leadership coaching, I offer an integrated practice which starts from a coaching space but that also, if needed, draws on expertise and insights from my training and experience as a therapist.  I am trained in Personal Consultancy - a framework combining deep listening, with rebalancing, and generating new ways forward.  There is also a focus on building support through work to strengthen relationships and networks.

More recently my integrated approach has been further informed by Polyvagal Theory which has been described as “The Science of feeling safe enough to fall in love with life and take the risks of living”.  I am trained to use Deb Dana’s approach to support people to map their responses and through greater awareness and choice, befriend their nervous system to support them to feel more able to return to and spend more time in equilibrium and flow.

Supervision

I have extensive experience of supervising counsellors, coaches, and practitioners in related fields.  I provide a safe and creative space within which to reflect on integrated or coaching work with clients and the further development of professional practice. Please see further information on the supervision page.

Training

As a licensed Time to Think Coach, Facilitator, Teacher, and Consultant, all my work with individuals and groups is underpinned by a commitment to creating an environment for people to think well for, and as themselves.

I have an excellent track record of developing and delivering training for national organisations including Youth Access, Place2Be and bacp and for CIC companies such as Leaders Plus.  I co-designed and facilitated Therapist2Coach training, taking counsellors to senior practitioner level with EMCC, which won a European Quality Award. I am a co-founder and facilitator for Working Titles Leadership.  I offer both Foundation and Thinking Partnership Courses as a Time to Think teacher. Along with Karen Ledger I offer coaching and workshops focusing on the “Third Act” of life.

Writing

I write about the integration of counselling and coaching in Coaching Today and Therapy Today and have contributed to books on this subject, including a chapter in Personal Consultancy.

Pro-bono and Voluntary roles have included Chair of school governors, Executive Specialist for Training, and Chair of BACP Coaching Division.

I coach pro-bono for the New Entrepreneurs Foundation.

I am a founder member of Coaching for Social Impact, a global, inclusive, diverse, and energetic community which aims to bring together anyone involved in coaching people for the social good in a supportive and collaborative network.
